About Me

Emily Mendez is a Cuban-American oboist, music educator, and arts administrator based out of Long Island, New York. They are currently pursuing their Doctorate in Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University. Emily has attended many festivals such as the Aspen Music Festival. At Stony Brook, she teaches the undergraduate oboists and serves as the assistant conductor for the University Orchestra. She has performed with groups such as the Miami Symphony and Chamber Players of New York. Recently, she participated in the world premiere of the off-Broadway show, “LifeView.”

Emily also teaches oboe and piano lessons, something she is passionate about. Her students have won honors such as perfect scores as NYSSMA and placed in the top ensembles at FMEA. Additionally, she has taught at Stony Brook’s Woodwind Day, where she ran reed-making and performance masterclasses.

As an arts administrator, she has served as both house manager and box office manager at venues such as DePaul’s Holtschneider Performance Center. Most recently, she was a House Manager at Aspen Music Festival for the 2026 season.
